Privacy policy

Last updated 2 October 2026  ·  IKITAI, operated by [ set BUSINESS.legalName in src/js/legal.js ]

This explains what IKITAI does with your personal information. It is written to be read, not to be defensible, so where the honest answer is "nothing" it says nothing rather than reserving a right the brand does not use.

The short version. There is no analytics on this site, no advertising pixel, no tracking cookie and no third party watching you read it. Your order details are used to make and send your parcel, and to answer you if you write in. Your email address is never sold, rented or shared for anyone else's marketing.

What is collected, and why

When you place an order

Your name, email address, phone number, shipping address and the contents of your order. This is needed to perform the contract you have entered into: the garment cannot be printed, packed, addressed or tracked without it, and the courier will not accept a parcel without a phone number.

When you ask to hear about a future drop

Your email address, and which product you asked about. The second part matters: which pieces people ask for is how the next drop gets chosen. This is on the basis of your consent, and you can withdraw it at any time by replying to any email or writing to the address above.

Payment information

IKITAI never receives your card number, UPI PIN, CVV or bank credentials. Those are entered on Razorpay's systems. What comes back is a transaction reference, whether the payment succeeded, and the last four digits of a card where relevant — enough to match a payment to an order and issue a refund, and nothing more.

What is stored in your browser

Two values, in localStorage, both first-party and neither used to identify or track you:

  • ikitai_cart — what you have put in your cart, so it survives a refresh.
  • ikitai_currency — the currency you chose, so the site stops guessing.

They stay on your device, are never transmitted to IKITAI, and clearing your browser storage removes them. This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics, which is why you have not been asked to accept any.

Your approximate country

Your browser's time zone and language settings are read in your own browser to choose a currency. This is not sent anywhere and no IP-based location lookup is performed.

Who your data is shared with

Only the parties needed to fulfil your order, and only with what each one needs:

  • Razorpay — to take the payment and process refunds.
  • The courier carrying your parcel — your name, address and phone number, because that is the shipping label.
  • The printer and packer in Tirupur — sizes and quantities. They do not need your name or address and are not given them.
  • The email provider used to send order updates.
  • The web host serving this site.

Where the law requires disclosure — a court order, a tax authority — it will be complied with. Nothing is sold, rented, or shared for anyone else's advertising, ever.

Google Fonts

Typefaces on this site are loaded from Google's font servers, which means Google receives your IP address when a page loads. This is the only third party contacted by the page itself, and it is used only to serve fonts. If this matters to you, a browser extension that blocks third-party font loading will not break the site.

Where your data goes

The business operates from India, so your information is processed there. If you are in the UK or the EU this is a transfer outside your jurisdiction, made because it is necessary to perform the contract you asked for.

How long it is kept

  • Order and payment records — for as long as tax and accounting law requires, which in India is eight years from the end of the relevant financial year. These cannot be deleted on request before then.
  • Interest and drop-notification emails — until you unsubscribe, or after three years of no response, whichever comes first.
  • Support correspondence — two years.

Your rights

Whatever country you are in, you can ask for a copy of what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, ask for it to be deleted, withdraw consent to marketing, or object to how it is being used. Under the GDPR you additionally have the right to receive your data in a portable form and to restrict processing while a dispute is resolved.

Write to preorder@ikitai.co. You will get an answer within 30 days, and there is no charge.

If you are not satisfied, you can complain to a regulator: the Data Protection Board of India, the Information Commissioner's Office in the UK, or your national data protection authority in the EU.

Security, stated honestly

The site is served over HTTPS and payment card data never reaches it. The number of people with access to order data is one. What cannot honestly be promised is that any system is impossible to breach — so if a breach ever affects your data, you will be told what happened and what was exposed, without being made to ask.

Children

This site is not intended for children under 18, and orders are not knowingly accepted from them.

Changes

If this policy changes in substance, the date at the top changes with it. Anyone on the email list will be told rather than left to notice.
